Are organic fertilizers safe?

A safe fertilizer is one that contributes nutrients in a form that is not harmful and enhances the productivity of the soil. Organic fertilizer is the organic matter that includes manure, bone or plant debris.  A safe fertilizer is not soluble. As per the requirement,  the chemical and biological processes convert them to a form that allows the nutrient to bond with the soil solution.

Usually they are raw minerals. They may be organically derived from manures, composts or plants.To ensure the safe addition of fertilizer one should obtain the assistance of a soil test. This would ensure a balanced level of total nutrients in the soil.

It is essential to have the nutrient availability is organic matter that supports the soil organisms. The raw nutrients can be made available through the plants and living organisms. Compost, green manures and others must be used to maintain a level of organic matter in the soil. The man made chemicals are proved to be harmful and are referred as the biocides. They kill all the biology present in the soil that are required to recover.

Organic fertilizers do not produce harmful gases or pollute water sources. Organic fertilizers build the soil and it enhances a powerful structure that supports and nourishes life. They are usually made from plant or animal waste or powdered minerals. The organic fertilizer product are simply processed, and the nutrients remain bound up in their natural forms. They are not extracted and refined. Organic fertilizers may be processed in the case of manure and compost, at a farm.

The organic fertilizers are safer. It’s the natural way to improve the quality of soil. Organic fertilizers are renewable, biodegradable, sustainable, and environmentally friendly. They are the eventual slow-release fertilizers. The nutrient ratios are unknown, and the overall percentage is lower than chemical fertilizers.
